Tumors affecting the central nervous system
The problems discussed in this chapter are related to intracranial and spinal cord benign and malignant tumors:
• Meningiomas, Neuromas (Schwannomas), Neuricytomas, Pituitary adenomas, Craniopharyngiomas, Ependymomas
• Gliomas, Astrocytomas, Metastases from other organs
• Other rare tumors (chordoma, chondrosarcoma, teratoma, epidermoid, dermoid, etc.)
Intracranial hypertension is a common framework of intracranial tumors, with disorders ranging from headaches to disorders of consciousness. Detailed information about intracranial hypertension and the various stages of altered consciousness are provided.
Microneurosurgery is the best treatment of intracranial meningiomas. GK is not curative and can be dangerous for patients with resectable meningiomas.
